IMPORTANT SENTENCES ...for the locator...
460.703 shall not dicharge...excavate or tunnel...near the location of a public utility...or demolish a building...without having first ascertained...the location of all underground facilities
460.705 shall give...telephone notice...at least 3 working days, but not more than 21 calendar days...
460.708 A public utility served with notice...shall, not less than 1 working day in advance of proposed construction...inform the person...of the approximate location...in a manner as to enable the person...to employ hand dug test holes or other similar means of establishing the precise location of the underground facilities using reasonable care to establish the precise location in advance of construction.
( The person is the contractor, notice precise is repeated, is there a question about how the contractor is to obtain the precise location?)
...for the purpose of this act, the approximate location...is...a strip of land at least 36 inches wide but not wider than the facility plus 18 inches on either side...
If the precise location...cannot be established...the person...shall notify the public utility which shall no later than 1 working day...provide such further assistance as may be needed to determine the precise location... in advance of the proposed excavating...
460.716 A person who willfully removes or otherwise destroys the stakes or other physical markings...is guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be fined not more than $5000.00...or...1 year, or both
